Bio-Link is one of the most essential parts of your social media handle and the most powerful marketing tool that you have in your arsenal. If you’re not using them, you’re missing out on a lot of traffic and ultimately sales and conversions.
And to make it harder, platforms like Instagram and TikTok only allow you to add a single place to add your links, so having an external webpage in your Link-in-bio that can direct your followers to your products and services can be really beneficial!
There are lots of services out there like Linktree, Koji (Recommended), and others that offer you to create a beautiful link in bio, but if you like to play it around, and learn new things building a link-in-bio with Canva graphic design tool can be fun, and you don’t have to spend any money on it!

How to make Bio-Links with Canva?
First of all, Let’s have a look at the things you’ll need to create a bio-link in Canva.
- Canva free, or a paid account.
- A custom domain name (Only if you want to add one to your bio-link website).
- Patience to go through this post till the end.
Step 1. Login or Sign-up
First of all, log in to Canva.com, And if you don’t have an account with Canva, Sign up for the free plan here.
And if you want to test out the pro plan, sign up through this link and you can try Canva Pro for 30 days as a free trial (Cancel anytime you want within the 30 days).

Step 2. Select the Bio-link option and templates for designing
- Click the “Create a design” button located at the top right side of the Canva dashboard to start designing your link-in-bio.
- Type “Bio-Link” on the search bar. A dropdown will appear.
- Select the “Bio-Link-website” suggested option. It will redirect you to the design toolbar (Another Page).
- Start from scratch or,
- Choose a bio-link website template or a layout for your design.

If you want a larger view of the existing templates,
- Go back to the main (homepage) dashboard.
- Select “Templates” on the left-hand side of the menu.
- Now in the template search bar type “Bio link” again and choose the “Bio-link-website” option.

You’ll find around 45 (Forty-five) different templates that you can edit in the pro plan.
The templates would look like a website that’s for bigger screens, but you need not worry. With the latest update, Canva has made its website templates responsive.

They work and look good on all devices whether it’s a desktop, laptop, iPad, iPhone, or any other smaller-screen device.
Step 3. Decide what goes where
The first thing you need to do is decide what goes where on your bio-link website. You can add as many sections as you want, but I would suggest you keep it short and straight to the point.
The more sections, the more likely your visitors are to get confused and leave your website.
The most common sections you’ll find in a bio-link website are:
- Profile & Brand Name: Where you can add a brief introduction about yourself or your brand.
- About: Where you can talk a bit about what you do, your story, values, etc.
- Services: Where you can add the services that you offer. This could be anything from coaching to consulting to selling products, etc.
- Links to other social platforms: Where you can add your website link, and links to other social platforms.
- Contact: Where you can add your contact details.

Now that you know what sections to add, it’s time to start designing!
Step 4. Add a clickable hyperlink in Canva
- Now select the buttons where you would want to add links to redirect your bio-link visitors.
- Click the button with the three dots above on the right side. (More options appear if you hover around it)
- Choose the link icon option, it will open a space to paste your hyperlink.
- Now place your URL in the space provided and press the “Enter” button on your keyboard to save the hyperlink in the element.
- Do this for every text box and button you would want to link.

Repeat the same for every button. And after you’re done you can go on and preview your link-in-bio website by clicking on the “Preview” button on the top of your dashboard.

Now that all the buttons are linked, your website is ready to go live!
Step 5. Publish and Share your Bio-Link Website
After you are done adding all the content and customizing your website, it’s time to publish it. To publish your bio-link site, Click on the “Publish” button located at the top right side of the Canva dashboard.
There will be three options for you to choose to add domains for your bio-link website.
- Canva free domain – It will show you a URL that looks like this – yourbrandname.mycanva.site.
- Purchase a new domain – You can add a new domain name or purchase one from Canva.
- Use an existing domain – You can use an existing domain that you have.

To connect an existing domain to Canva, you’ll need to point your domain name to Canva’s server by updating your domain’s DNS setting at your domain provider’s end.
Canva will give you the nameservers that you need to add to your domain’s DNS settings. Once you’ve updated your DNS settings, it can take up to 48 hours for the changes to propagate.
After your DNS settings have been updated, you should see your website live at your domain!
Here’s a tutorial on how to change your DNS. Canva might have the same process.
That’s it! You have now created your own bio-link website with Canva!

How to shorten your Canva link?
You can use link-shortener websites to shorten your Canva link. There are lots out there but the one I prefer is a site called Bit.ly. With Bitly, you can easily shorten your Canva link. Here’s how you do it:
- Just go over to the site. Sign up for a new account. It has free and paid plans, but for our purpose, the free plan will be enough.
- Now paste your link on the Bit.ly URL shortener space (Which you will find on the right side of your dashboard)
- Now shorten the link by selecting the “Create button” and clicking “Save”.

The ability to track your link clicks is one of the best features of using Bit.ly, but you’ll have limited access to a free account. If you want to track your link clicks, I suggest upgrading to a paid plan.
