So, let’s get started.
Different Ways to Use Chat GPT for Your Blogging Business
The applicability of Chat GPT can be in different ways for different industries, while it’s still in its infancy, many researchers and entrepreneurs are already trying to figure things out and find the best possible use cases of Chat GPT in their specific industry.
The case is the same with content marketers and especially bloggers. So I came out with a list of my own, with most of the things on the list containing the specific things I’m already using in my blogging business or you can say content marketing business.
So, let’s start with a quick list of the tasks that Chat GPT can help us with, in our blogging business:
- Organize your website Navigation.
- Generate Blog Topics.
- Improve Blog Structure and Organization.
- Writing Blog Content. (Step-by-step Tutorial here)
- Create Meta Descriptions and Titles.
- Improve SEO.
- Create Customized Plugins or Codes for Your Website.
- Generate Social Media Content.
- Create Email Campaigns.
- Generate Video Content.
- Brainstorm Lead Magnet Ideas.
- Generate Image Prompts for AI Image Generators.
Now, let’s have a detailed look at the various ways you can use Chat GPT for your blogging business with some examples and prompts that you can try for yourself.
1. Organize your website Navigation
Navigation is one of the most important aspects of your website, it is not only important for SEO but also helps your visitors to easily navigate to the corners of your website they want to visit.
But many bloggers struggle to come up with a good website structure and navigation, that’s where Chat GPT can come in handy. You can use Chat GPT to create a well-optimized structure for your website in seconds.
Things you can create:
- Silo structure.
- Topical Maps.
- Categories and subcategories.
- Tags (I don’t use them).
The best practice would be to create an organized silo for your website at the beginning itself when you’re setting up your site, however, you can still do it after.
Using Chat GPT to organise the website’s silo structure
There can be different ways to let Chat GPT create a silo structure for your website, it can be a step-by-step process or a single-step process.
I don’t like to make things complicated and usually go the simpler route most of the time and in this example, too I’ll just go with a single prompt asking Chat GPT to create a complete website silo structure with categories and subcategories.
Prompt and Example:
Generate a silo structure for a [Niche Topic] niche blog website named [Blog Name] with an audience targeting [Target Audience]. Also add categories, sub-categories, and topic clusters.
Chat GPT will most of the time give you the structure in words. You can give an additional prompt to let it create a visual structure that can make it easy to understand the silo structure better.
Here’s an example with the prompt and output:
2. Generate Blog Topics and Keyword Ideas
One of the biggest challenges for bloggers is coming up with new and interesting topics in their niche and also finding keyword ideas.
I mean there are many keyword research tools out there but to find the best keywords you’ll have to start with an idea or a query your potential audience might be using in their search, and that’s where Chat GPT can help you with.
I can help you generate topic and keyword ideas that you can research in your preferred keyword research tool that will validate your research and let you decide whether the keyword or query you’re researching is worth pursuing or not.
You can do it by inputting a few keywords related to your niche, Chat GPT will then generate a list of potential blog topics for your niche.
For example, if you run a food blog, you could input “healthy recipes” and receive a list of potential topics such as “10 Vegetarian Recipes Under 500 Calories” or “5 Easy Meal Prep Recipes for Busy Weekdays.”
Example Prompt:
Brainstorm a list of 5 [Type of Post (Eg. Tutorial, Commercial, informational)] long tail keyword ideas for my blog [Blog Name] covering the [Subject/Topic/Subtopic] niche.
As you can see, Chat GPT has come up with some blog post ideas, you can now go to a keyword research tool or even use the Google auto-complete feature in search to validate your keyword.
3. Improve Blog Structure and Organization
This one’s the one I struggled with the most while writing my blog posts. As you know a well-organized blog is the key to giving your insights the right way to keep your readers hooked and engaged.
Well, Chat GPT took away this painful step almost completely from my content creation process. Now to create outlines for my blog posts I just have to write a prompt and it’s done.
There are different ways to let Chat GPT spit out outlines for your blog posts but the simplest way would be to add the keyword, topic, and subtopic if you have any from your research in your prompt and hit that enter button.
Chat GPT will then generate a detailed outline for your post, this helps you stay on track and create a clear and concise blog post or article.
Prompt Example:
Write a detailed SEO-optimized outline for the blog topic [Topic] Add these [People also ask/Outlines you want to add] questions list too and also Use the following list of semantic keywords in a natural way whenever necessary and possible: [Semantic keywords list]
One more thing I’d like to add here is, before creating your outline, make sure to add any other outlines that you would like Chat GPT to add and ask it to use the outline in a natural way that goes in the flow with the article.
Make sure to check out the outline after it’s generated and make changes and add your own stuff if necessary.
4. Generate Blog Content
The fourth one is an obvious one, which is of course using Chat GPT to generate blog content. You can use it to write new blog posts, and improve your existing content.
However, there are some limitations with Chat GPT. It can’t generate good quality, full long-form content in a single go, with a straight prompt you usually never get the desired result that you wanted.
And, on top of that, just like when you’re using any other AI copywriting tools out there you usually edit the output, I would recommend you do the same and not add the content generated from Chat GPT as it is in your blog post.
In my case, I just let it write my first draft using a single prompt and then later I make changes to the content in my own tone, adding extra insights from my side whenever necessary.
If you want a complete idea of how to write a full blog post on Chat GPT using different prompts and methods, I’ll write another blog post about it later. Till then here’s the single prompt I use for creating my first draft.
Example Prompt:
I use this prompt after I’ve created an outline, “Write a complete blog post/article for the topic [Topic] covering all the headings, subheadings and CTA’s using the above outline. Additionally add guides, examples and semantic keywords naturally whenever necessary and possible.
5. Create Meta Descriptions and Titles
Meta descriptions and titles are key to driving traffic to your blog. And if you have been struggling with it, Chat GPT can help you create effective meta descriptions and titles that will encourage readers to click through to your blog.
To create a meta description and titles just input your blog post’s targeted keyword and the title or topic with your prompt, Chat GPT will then generate several different options for your meta description and title as per the quantity you’ve given.
You can either use two different prompts separately for both the title and meta description or let Chat GPT generate with a single prompt.
Example prompts:
Generate a list of 5 blog post Titles ideas and meta descriptions for the blog topic [Topic] with [Main keyword] as the targeted keyword.
6. Improve SEO
SEO is the most crucial part of a business that wants to thrive online, likewise, it is similar for bloggers looking to drive more traffic to their sites. And Chat GPT can help you with that too.
As you must have noticed the term “Semantic keywords” in my earlier prompts and examples above, Chat GPT can help you identify and generate these keywords for SEO optimization and improve your blog’s overall SEO.
If you don’t know yet, semantic keywords are similar keywords that are related to your main keyword in a blog post.
AI copywriters and SEO tools like Frase, Outranking or Surfer, do the same thing for your content, just in an automated way and that’s what they charge for while also offering their other features.
Semantic keywords are important because it helps search engine crawlers understand your blog and its content in-depth so that they can rank your page accordingly. Additionally, your post might even rank for these semantic keywords in the search results.
All you have to do is, ask Chat GPT to use those keywords in the blog post you are generating while giving your prompt or you can take the list of those semantic keywords and add yourself later.
Prompt Examples:
Generate a complete list of semantic keywords for the blog post [Topic] with [Targeted Keyword] being used as the primary keyword.
7. Create Customized Plugins or Codes for Your Website
If you have ever wondered and dreamt of using custom codes or even building a plugin yourself that you can use on your website, Chat GPT can help you with that too.
However, to do these yourself you’ll need to have some knowledge of how plugins, websites and themes are structured and made. In other words a basic knowledge of coding, which I believe is quite learnable.
I haven’t tried it myself yet but I’m thinking of giving it a try someday. However, I’ve seen many bloggers and SEO guys in certain Facebook groups that I’m part of doing this.
I’ll write more about this if I try this in the future.
8. Generate Social Media Content
Social media marketing is another essential part of building a blogging business. And social channels like Facebook and Pinterest can be great sources of traffic if utilized to their full potential.
The hardest part, however, is with coming up with social media post ideas and captions. This is where Chat GPT can help you. It can generate social media posts ideas, captions and hashtags that will help you grow your audience and ultimately boost your blog and its brand.
To create social media post Ideas, the types of prompts can depend on the platform you’re creating the post for.
In my case, I just streamline the process (I Might need another blog post to explain this). However, Here’s a quick step-by-step explanation of how I do it.
Creating Social Media Posts The Smart Way Using Chat GPT
The number of steps would depend on the social channels you use, in my case, it’s Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, Linkedin sometimes.
For this explanation, I’ll pick the same topic I’ve been using for the entire examples above.
The first thing I do is ask Chat GPT to create a list of social media post ideas around my niche
Example Prompt:
Brainstorm a list of 5 social media post ideas for the [Niche] niche that will answer the main pain points of my audiences.
And, then I start with a post content for my Twitter thread, “Write a Twitter thread for the topic [Topic] with a hook in the beginning that raises curiosity and wanting to read more.”
Then I convert the thread to a Short video script, “Convert the above Twitter thread into a one-minute video script with a straight-to-the-point explanation.”
After you’re done with posting on Twitter, take the screenshot, and use the screenshot to create an Instagram carousel. I also use the same post for my YouTube Short and Instagram Reels.
9. Create Email Campaigns
If you’re already collecting emails and using email campaigns in your blogging business you must already know that it’s an effective way to drive traffic to your new blog posts, promote affiliate products and even sell your own products and services.
But, just like me, if you’re not so good at writing captivating and converting emails, the open rate and the click-through rate of your email campaigns might not be that good. That’s where Chat GPT can help you.
Chat GPT can help you create effective subject lines, body content and call to action for your emails. It can even brainstorm your email campaign strategies.
Examples Prompts
Create an email sequence strategy for my new email subscribers from beginning to end where ultimately I’ll be promoting an Affiliate product named [Affiliate Product name] that solves this [problem].
10. Generate Video Content
Video content is becoming increasingly popular among bloggers. Even ad networks like Ezoic are giving a lot of importance to it nowadays as they introduced an in-built text-to-video creator called Flickify a few months ago for their platform.
And if you’re not using videos to boost your blogging business, you’re leaving a lot on the table. And if you find it hard to come up with video ideas and scripts, Chat GPT can help you generate engaging video scripts.
Things you can create for your videos can be:
- Video Topic Ideas.
- Video scripts.
- YouTube Thumbnail ideas.
- Video Titles.
- Video descriptions.
Example Prompts
Write an engaging YouTube video script for the video titled [Video title] with a captivating hook at the beginning of the video and also add some jokes and humour in the middle.
I know the script generated by Chat GPT might be a bit robotic and straightforward. So it’s important that you give the script your own touch.
11. Brainstorm Lead Magnet Ideas
We’ve talked about Chat GPT writing emails for us earlier in this post but if truth be told, writing emails is another thing, collecting emails is what most new bloggers struggle with.
And there are many strategies used by marketers to grow their email list but almost every strategy needs a lead magnet to be successful in generating leads. Chat GPT can help you brainstorm lead magnets and even create some from scratch.
You can ask Chat GPT to generate the pain points of your target audiences, then ask for a list of lead magnet ideas, and then even create the lead magnet from scratch using Chat GPT itself.
Examples
Brainstorm a list of [Numbers] different formats of lead magnet ideas for my blog covering the [Topic] topic that will be valuable for my audience.
After you’ve got the ideas, you can easily create even the lead magnets with the help of Chat GPT.
12. Generate Image Prompts for AI Image Generators
Lastly, You can also use Chat GPT to generate prompts that you can use in other AI Image generators to generate images for your blog.
As you know images are a crucial component of any blog post. They help you to break up long blocks of text and make your blog content more engaging for your readers.
AI image generators like DALL-E and MidJourney can create stunning images based on text prompts, but coming up with creative image ideas can be challenging.
Chat GPT can help you generate unique and creative image prompts that you can use in AI image generators to create Images for your blog.
The process would be to let Chat GPT create a list of ideas according to your blog post, then let it generate prompts from the list of ideas generated and then you can use it in DALL-E or MidJourney.
Examples
Brainstorm a list of 5 featured image ideas for my blog post titled [Title] also add styles, words and reasoning in the image ideas.
Generate a prompt that will create a featured image for my blog post titled [Blog Title] addressing as many details as possible which I can use in AI Image generators like DALL-E to generate my image.
I haven’t tried creating images with AI yet, as I’m happy with what Canva offers as of now. But I think with some learning and practice, I can come up with a better image than the one I generated above.
So, that’s all for this list. This was just the list of main things I thought can be accomplished using Chat GPT. I think there are many other things that can be done with Chat GPT in a content-driven business.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I would just say that Chat GPT is a powerful tool for bloggers looking to improve their blogging business. With its ability to generate new blog ideas, improve blog structure and organization, and all the things listed above, Chat GPT can help you take your blog to the next level.
By using Chat GPT, you can save time and improve the quality of your content, making your blog more engaging and valuable to your audience.
I believe, no matter if you’re just starting out or you’re an experienced blogger, if you want to streamline and expedite your content creation process, Chat GPT should be a part of your content creation process along with any other AI tools you might be using.
